Janet has over 20 years of toxicology experience including 14 years in the pharmaceutical industry. At Bristol-Myers Squibb, she headed up the Occupational Toxicology group where she was responsible for setting Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs) for drug substances and their synthetic intermediates and served as chair of the BMS OEL committee. She also supported health hazard assessment and classifications (GHS) for SDSs, study monitoring for GLP studies. She has participated and led a broad range of projects and investigations to support worker and product safety. More recently, she has been the Director of Environment, Health and Safety, and Sustainability, Partner to R&D, driving EHS&S communications and projects. Previously, she progressed to Senior Toxicologist at National Starch and Chemical Company (part of the ICI Group) supporting regulatory, toxicology and hazard communication for cosmetic ingredients and other industrial chemicals. Dr. Gould has a B.S in Biochemistry and Chemistry from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in Toxicology from the Joint Graduate Program at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She spent three years studying hormone modulating chemicals during her post-doctoral fellowship at the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology in RTP, NC. She has presented at industry meetings and published a number of peer review on topics of occupational toxicology (e.g., OELs, sensitization, protein bioavailability, SAR, PDE/ADEs). Dr. Gould is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology since 1999. She authored many documents as a member of the Occupational Alliance for Risk Science - Workplace Environmental Exposure Level (WEEL™) Committee, is a member and past president of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Toxicology, member of the Society of Toxicology and the NIOSH Hazardous Drug Alert Committee.
